Does this sentence make sense?

Hi
I was wondering whether you can help me out with a sentence I need to have translated from Italian. Here is my attempt:
"Any scientific theory must be substantiated by inconfutable evidence in front of the scientific community."
Is there anything wrong in this phrase?
Thank you.

Yes, I admit that sounds better and less out-of-style to my inexpert ear too!
