Does this sentence contain any error?

"Many scientists have been conducting extensive research into food intake and various results were announced by them."

But I suggest "Many scientists have been conducting extensive research into food intake, and they have announced various results."

Perhaps 'conclusions' might be a better word? A 'conclusion' comes from analyzing the resu

The sentence, as English, is fine. It means:

- Many scientists are looking carefully at what people eat. So far, they have different views about it

There's no error but, to be honest, it doesn't - on its own - say a great deal
