Does this sentenc emake sense

Did I word this propery?

"Throughout the play, it is clear Abigail was successful in establishing herself as the epitome of self interest."

My suggestion would be to use "sucessfully established" and the past perfect since you seem to be saying that Abigail had already established herself as the epitome of self-interest by the time when the story began:

"Throughout the play, it is clear Abigail had successfully established herself as the epitome of self-interest."
