Does this one sentence make sense?

Hey guys,

Does this make sense to you English native speakers:

"This design is a perfect fit for whichever event you need it for"

This is for a product description, I'm not sure about the 'whichever' part, I just need to know that it makes sense.

Thanks

"Whichever" suggests that we know about a set of events that the design might be used for. I suspect that that is not the case, but unless you provide context, it is impossible to evaluate the sentence reliably. Is that not so in many other languages?

  • Very often a question is asked about a bit of English that can mean several different things or that requires several different formats depending on its context, but the OP does not seem to realize that.
  • Also, "whichever", and the more suitable "whatever", are both a little casual, even offhand.
