It was an old building that belched continuous demands on our time and resources. The use of "belched" here seems akward.Thanks

Oh, I actually love this metaphor! We're doing a lot of work in my company right now trying to get our clients to let us show them how to make their buildings more efficient.

I guess the problem is that you "belch" out, but when it comes to resources, you pull them in. Probably a "sucking" rather than "belching" would work better. Still, it's very vivid!
