Does the word 'humaneness' feel informal?

Hello, I'm preparing a presentation about a moral dilemma in which humane emotion and the law conflict.
Avoiding using the word 'humane emotion' repeatedly, I employed another word, 'humaneness'.
However, unlike the adjective 'humane', to me, it seems like the noun isn't used very often.
As a native speaker or an advanced learner, do you think it is fine to adopt the word 'humaneness'?
If don't, could you give some other simple or frequently-used vocabularies that can substitute for it?
Thank you.

Humane is an adjective. Synonyms: empathetic, sympathetic, compassionate, merciful. I cannot advise you on vocabulary usage if you do not post the sentence that you want to use.
