Does the phrase make sense?

Do you understand this:

"...a personality mural, i.e., a set of photographs or paintings representing chemistry scientists, is projected in the wall and students are asked to elicit what they know about them..."

thanks in advance!

'Personality' sounds wrong—the word more often refers to personal characteristics—and for 'mural' I would substitute 'collage' or 'pastiche', I think. And simply 'chemists'.

Then what if I change it like this:

… a collage of photographs or portraits representing famous chemists is projected on a screen and students are asked to report what they know about them…

That is if:
“Screen” can stand for “a wall where it is projected” as well as a proper projection screen?
“Portraits” are images made by painters and not captured by a camera?

Yes, yes and yes.
