Some people believe that reading stories from a book is better than watching TV or playing computer games for children. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Many claim that reading books has greater benefit than watch TV or playing video games, especially for kids. In my opinion, i think that children should adapt both methods to cultivate the intelligence.

While many people, especially the old generation, believe that both watching TV and playing computer are harmful. This opinion is partly correct because they can cause health problems such as obesity, eyes disorders, let alone risks of being anti social. However, if children are guided to use them correctly, they can take good advantages of them. Firstly, TV programs, especially those are highly selected are great sources of knowledge. Secondly, playing games is a creative way to encourage kids to learn and by completing tasks which sometimes can get very tricky, they can increase their focuses and develop critical thinking. More than that, group games require players to work in a team and through that kids can learn how to speak up in the group and cooperate with others.

The modern way has been proved as highly effective but the traditional ones, reading books, more specific is reading stories, still holds a big part in children educating. Stories that pull us into a fantastic world with vivid colours and various characters teach us to become creative and they often include provoking moral lessons that is helpful to develop children personality. In the world where various teaching methods come out to meet people needs reading culture still plays an important role in nurturing young generations.

To conclude I agree that reading books has certain benefits but it can not outweigh the benefits of watching TV and playing games. And to provide best for children, parents should combine the two of them.
