Does (so)

Hi, you can call me Alex, everyone does so.

Is the 'so' above necessary or redundant?

but the "call" is an action verb, so "so" should be there, right?

Including the "so" is perfectly alright; however, almost no English speaker would. The "so" at the end of that sentence is implied. Americans, especially, like to shorten sentences whenever possible.
The two alternatives Jenni suggested are better, but if you want to stick with your structure, just drop the last word.
