Does reading Shakespeare, analysing novels, lit, studying academic subjects such as Chemistry, Math in English improve your English?

Not necessarily because it would be dependent on circumstances like the quality of teachers and curriculums wherever someone studies. When at school in England, all we did for English lessons was analyse some obscure poems and stories. None of that helped me or anyone else I knew in school to improve our vocabulary or writing ability.

If you're paying attention, everything you do in English improves your English.

Reading Shakespeare will not improve your understanding of practical modern English. There may be other reasons to read it, but that is not one.
