Good question. I always thought it was a fictitious island, but I've never had occasion to say it or hear it said. " I just discovered I was wrong about that.

Good question. I always thought it was a fictitious island, but I've never had occasion to say it or hear it said. I've always thought the miniature inhabitants, Lilliputians, were pronounced with a long "u," like the sheep (ewe), or the word "youth." I just discovered I was wrong about that. My dictionary lists "Lilliputians" and pronounces the "u" as the "oo" in "boot." It doesn't list "Li

But I'm afraid the second one, the -putt one, is more correct, at least according to most references I have referred to.
