Which is correct and why?
"Do you think he will pass his exams?" "I hope he does."
OR
"Do you think he will pass his exams?" I hope he will."

After 'hope' it just happens that we can use either the present simple or will+ bare infinitive for that which is hoped for. So, both 'I hope he does' and 'I hope he will' are possible.
