Does Not and Is not

Hi all,

I teach ESL and I had a student as me a question that I wasn't sure how to answer. He constructed a sentence and this is what is was:

"My stomach does not feel good."

Now he knew to use DOES not...but asked me why we don't use IS not.

He knows "My stomach is not feel good" doesn't sound right...but how can I explain why?

You could also mention that does goes with a verb (but not an -ing form) and is goes with an adjective, noun, or -ing form of a verb.

My stomach does not feel good. feel is a verb.
My stomach is upset.
