Does my sentence need a correction?

I just want to see my kids eat whatever they want without ever having to starve again.

Hi, everyone.

Regarding the above sentence I wrote, does the phrase "eat whatever they want" is acceptable and idiomatic as it is.
It's a sentence in a letter written by a mother with 2 children who's asking for help from Red Cross.

Would there be a more idiomatic expression to convey the idea of "mother wanting her children to eat anything they want because they haven't been able to do so so far."?

Thanks for your help.

there is an odd oxymoronic element to that sentence. Your 2nd idea is much better: I want my kids to eat as much they want because they haven't been able to do so so far.
