Does my sentence make sesne?

When topics such as divorce, violent games, dating, and premarital sex arise in the Public Talks, I want them to be there and gain understanding about what the Bible says about these topics.

What is your antecedent for "them"? I assume this refers back to a previous sentence, but without the context, the antecedent appears to be "topics." If the context clears up the ambiguity, this sentence is fine.
