Does 'make it so' exist as a sequence of words?

Does 'make it so' exist as a sequence of words? Is this sentence understandable?

Since the jet of water is very thin, stick your hand under it at an angle. The palm of your will make it so that the jet covers more ground as you wash the dishes.
