May I ask if the following sentences are correct?

Does he have a lot of money?

Does he have a lot of books?

But my grammar book says a lot of should not be used in questions. However, my book is sort of old-fashioned. That's why I want to listen to your opinions.

In addition, you also could say "...much money..." if you like, but not "...much books."

I agree that "a lot of" is fine in both cases.
