Scenario: I'm at the dinner table and I'm taking up two spots and someone tells me to move over and I say:
Which one is better to use? #1 right? But isn't it bad use present tense with 'yet' ?
1. Does it look like he is here yet?
2. Has it looked like he is here yet?

"yet" goes perfectly fine with the present tense. You should have no hesitation in using that combination. I'd definitely use the first.
