Does 'believership' exist?

I was arguing with a friend over the word "believership'?

I said there is no such word as I cannot find it in any dictionary.

Is he correct or am I?

Google only gets about 3,000 hits for "believership". That means that the word is exceedingly rare — so rare, in fact, that it should probably not be used when writing for the general public. As you have already said, the word has not yet made it into the dictionaries.
