Does a chair 'encompass' your back?

Hi,

First of all, I'd like to know what you call the part of chair that your back is touching. I assume it's just a 'back'? Then, would you say something like, "The back of the chair holds(or supports?) my back"?

Also, if the chair's back split into two cushions, so when you're leaning back it kind of covers/wraps around your back, can you say, the chair 'encompasses' your back? Can I use the verb, encompass, here?
Please let me know some good examples that describe this well.

Thanks!

Yes, the "back" of a chair is just called the "back". You could call it a back rest too, I guess. "The back of the chair SUPPORTS my back", or "I REST my back on the back of the chair".
