DO/DOES

Hello Teachers,

1.What does the lions on the national symbol stand for?

2.What do the lions on the national symbol stand for?

What is subject of these two sentences? Is it "the lions"?

If so, then I think (2) is correct.

What is your opinion?

Thanks.

Hanuman,

You think right.

"The lions on the national symbol (do) stand for [something / what?]" > "What do the lions on the national symbol stand for?"

You are a source of inspiration for me. I am not able to express my feeling into words.
I think, you understand it better.

Thanks.
