Do you use these phrases often?

Hello, I'm reefa.

Could you please let me listen to your opinions?
Are these phrsese(?or?) popular in oral English?

?We gave them bread, lest they should starve.
The point phrase is "lest"? (sometimes used without "should" ).
?He is due to make a speech tonight.
The point phrase is "be due to" (instead of useing "be to").

Or when I want to say it strongly, "He should make a speech tonight." How about this sentence? Following it, can you get it without the feeling of a plan ?

Thanks in advance.

He is due to make a speech tonight. Yes, this is used, but not as much as this "He is scheduled to make a speech tonight."

"He should make a speech tonight." - This has a different meaning: He is not due
