Do you remember what she's wearing / What do you think she's wearing: what makes the difference?

ex1) Do you remember what she's wearing?
Do you know when he goes to school?

ex2) What do you think she's wearing?
When do you believe he goes to school?

Making these kind of questions, I've learned wh- should move to the initial position in the sentence due to some specific sort of verbs like think, guess, believe, imagine, suppose and say.
I understand the sentences like "Do you guess what she's wearing", "*Do you believe when he leaves?" are not correct.

But I don't know why.
What makes the differences?
Is it only a matter of the meaning of those verbs or are there grammatical/syntactic explanations?
