Do you often use the words 'liaise with'?

Actually I'm not used to this word 'liaise with', but recently I've revieced a couple of emails using this 'liaise with'.

I wonder how often native English speakers use this word 'liaise with' instead of contact to or somthing.

I've never used the verb form nor been conscious of seeing it used.

I've just looked at two very thick paperback dictionaries from the 1980's and they don't list it.(Funk and Wagnalls and Webster's II (Office Edition)

I agree I never use the word. It isn't really a word! A much better word to use is something like interface.

I use this word all the time.

It is used regularly in fields of work such as law, governance, civil/public service, and the military.

I have never heard anyone substitute something as nebulous and vague as "interface with" for the term "liaise with".... it sounds like the incorporation of a piece of computer / techno jargon into ordinary spoken English.
