Do you need to add this?

Can I say upwards or do I have to add "with the prongs..."

Put the forks and knives in the dishwasher upwards /with the prongs and blanks upwards in the dishwasher basket.

Thank you

Anonymous do I have to add Yes. 'upwards' alone isn't clear enough. Here's all you need: Put the forks and knives in the dishwasher with the tines and blades up.

(That's not as safe, however. A friend of mine insists that the silverware should be loaded with the business side down.)
