Do you need a comma here?

I got this sentence from this forum and although my intention isn't to scrutinize one's writing, I want to know whether or not the sentence below needs a comma. I changed one or two words but kept the main parts intact.

I drank too much water this afternoon (, ???) which kept me going to the washroom.

Without a comma, imagine this text setup:

I drank too much water
this afternoon which kept me going to the washroom.

One could perhaps think during a quick scan that
it's the afternoon which is the cause of going to the washroom
and not the water
