Do you have any substitutions for 'It was brought to our notice that...' and 'We came to know that...', please?

Hi teachers: 

Would you please tell how I can reword the following clauses? 

1) It was brought to our notice that... 

2) We came to know that...

Do you have any substitutions for the above clauses?

2) We found that ... / We discovered that ...

Thank you, dear teechr, for your response. But there is one thing that I'm confused about. What you wrote in your reply was in the present perfect tense, while the clauses which I had written were both in the past simple tense. Doesn't that make any difference?

One more thing, please: Do they all carry the same meaning?
