Relatives are the people in your family, either direct or indirect. Your cousins, brothers, sisters, aunts, etc. are all your relatives.

"Relations" has myriad context. Generally, you would not use this when speaking about your family.

Wrong: "He's my relation. We are brothers."
Right: "He's related to me. We are brothers."
Right: "He's my relative. We are brothers."

but I saw the definition of relation in dictionary saying"a member of your family" and with a sample sentence"I saw a lot of my relations at the wedding ". I was just wondering the meaning of the word relation.
thanks:)

I answered "relatives" because that's what I call them, and that's what you asked. The word "relations" does mean the same thing, but I would only use it in the fixed expression "friends and relations". You also see it when someone has the same last name as you but is not a relative of yours, and you say, "No relation."
