Many people believe that communication among friends and family has been deteriorating currently due to television and the internet. In my opinion, such technological development should not be blamed for worsening relationships. This essay will give a detailed explanation of my disapproval of the statement.

It is true that technological devices and the internet can have a harmful influence on the connection among family members and friends. A large number of people, especially young teenagers, take great pleasure in spending hours immersing themselves in movies, news, and videos, … on the television. Gradually, they will forget their duties as family members and not pay attention to family activities. Their friends may be ignored as well because watching TV and surfing the Internet have already taken up most of their time.

However, I still believe that the existence of television and the Internet have nothing to do with the quality of communication among humans. If viewers are truly disciplined and have the ability to manage their time, watching television can have no negative effect. In addition, the Internet and television may provide families and friends with a variety of topics to discuss, which significantly contributes to effective communication. Besides, the development of the internet has resulted in the advent of different communication apps. Hence, people would find it much easier to have immediate conversations via texting, or video calling.

In summary, humans had better be responsible for the quality of communication themselves instead of putting blame on television and the internet.
