Do we say The Big Ben or Big Ben?

I just don't know whether saying The Big Ben is correct or not... Of course I don't mean only Big Ben, this is just an example. So simply, do we say "the" before names of monuments or things like this?

Big Ben is actually the name of the bell, and people started calling the tower and clock that. Many prominent bells have human names. There are a couple of Great Toms. York Minster has Great Peter, the best big bell I've ever heard.
