What does the above sentence mean? Is the word far used as a noun here?

Yes, it does seem to be an adjective turned into a noun, doesn't it?-- 'Do we have [ a ] far [distance] to go?'. More likely, it is just an adverb in an unusual position: 'Do we have to go far?'
