Look at these sentences. Shouldn't we use "are" instead of "do" here?
- Some new words become part of a language, just as hello did. That word was kept because it was so useful. Other new words that aren't so useful may be forgotten soon. The world is changing all the time; so do words.
To me, it should be "are", to parallel the auxiliary verb (be) in the first part of the clause. "Do" will work with this wording, which has an implied auxiliary "do": The world changes [=does change] all the time, so do words.
