Do these two sentences make sense?

Two sentences that, apart from the fact that I am not sure whether they make sense, are completed unrelated to each other...

1) "I missed the English lesson that day, and so I'd be grateful if you could tell me which stories people told were the best and why." (Everyone had to tell a funny story about something that happened to them)
2) "Just had an interesting one-hour lesson on rockets and Newton's second law, popping loads of balloons in the process Emotion: smile
