do these two sentence mean the same thing??

Dayton grabs the bag and takes his bagel.
Grabbing the bag, Dayton takes his bagel.

There is not a huge difference. The second one suggests the two actions happened simultaneously. In the first, I'm thinking the bagel is in the bag.
