Do the following sentences using 'more than' sound natural?

Do the following sentences using 'more than' sound natural? I think only the first sentence is acceptable. Is my thinking correct? 

1. Alex is able to see more than his eyes can see.
2. Alex is able to see more than his eyes see.

3. Alex is able to see more than what his eyes can see.

Hi If we are saying that Alex has a clairvoyant or supernatural ability, I think that 1 and 2 are OK: - Alex is able to see more than his eyes can see. - Alex is able to see more than his eyes see Dave

If we are saying that Alex has a clairvoyant or supernatural ability, I think that 1 and 2 are OK:

- Alex is able to see more than his eyes can see.

- Alex is able to see more than his eyes see

.... and I'm not sure that the third is wrong. The word 'what' tends to sound ugly and aggressive in UK English

It works in some sentences but not in others
