Bill broke the glass completely.

Bill broke the glass completely, and Sean did so too.

Bill broke the glass completely, and Sean did so incompletely.

Like I put a example above, it is said #1 and 2 can be interpreted in two ways. But I couldn't find how. Could you help me please?

1. I saw that gas can explode.

2. Oscar stayed behind the counter and Harry did so too.
