Which verb do you use with the word theatre? Do or make?

A- "I used to do theatre when I was younger."
B- "I used to make theatre when I was younger."

I think it must be (A). I don't like (B) at all, although I'm not saying that, in language, it is wrong

To be honest, it all sounds a little disrespectful - like - I used to do drugs when I was a teenager

If the writer means it in that negative way, then either is OK. Otherwise, something like:

- I used to act in theatre when I was younger

- I don't remember him as acting in theatre
