'do' or 'does' + any+ countables?

Which is correct ? Do any of your students speak English? or Does any of your students speak English?
What are the rules of verb-noun agreement, especially with none, any, etc.?
In this context, 'any of' can be followed by either form of the verb. Singular is considered more formal than plural, I'd say.

In any of these things, the term any is referring to only one item and not two or more therefore it is singular and should take a singular verb.
