Do native speakers refer to the parking lot as just the parking?

American speakers, that is.

In Spanish we say "He dejado el coche en el parking" (I've left the car in the parking lot). But somewhere I got the notion that a native speaker would not usually say "I have left the car in the parking" without the word "lot". Am I right?

Thanks.
