Do make ,do have, what does it mean?

I know that for somone it could be a silly question, but i dont understand what does it mean when we put do before have, make or any verb, for example: I do have a lot of homework today. Thanks for any answers.

Hi, It is not a silly question at all. We use "do" with a verb in asking questions. ) But sometimes we use it in the declarative sentence for emphasis.

Hi,

It is not a silly question at all.
We use "do" with a verb in asking questions. (Do you speak English?)
But sometimes we use it in the declarative sentence for emphasis.

I like a little cream in my coffee. It does make a big difference in the taste.
