Do in this way or this way?

Hi. How could we know clearly when to use "this way" or "in this way" for the kinds (?) of sentences that contain the following phrases (see the example phrases below)? I feel in some sentential contexts, the phrases "this way" and "in this way" are interchangeable, with the same meaning.
