Do I use me or my?

It is because of my watching tv that the baby got lost.

In this sentence, should I use me or my? And how can I know when to use each?

I like the color of (me/my) car.

Which one would you use? me car or my car?

The same reason is used in the case of a gerund, the -ing form of the verb used as a noun. It needs the possessive form of the pronoun.

My watching TV is the reason why the baby got lost.

Although on a greater view, the sentence is awkward. A more natural utterance: I lost the baby because I was watching TV.
