Do I use I ome in the sentence below?

My mom caught my friend and I doing something bad.

My mom caught my friend and me doing something bad.

The way to find the correct answer for a sentence like this is to take "the friend" out of the sentence. Would you say, "my mom caught I" or "my mom caught me"? "Me" is correct, and it's still correct when you add the friend back into the sentence.
