Do I understand this correctly

I thanked someone really important for following me on Instagram.

his reply: due time pal

Does it mean that it was time to do so?

thanks

I would be offended by his pompous smart-alecky reply! "pal" is usually derogatory and condescending. "due time" = "it's about time" meaning: you should have thanked me earlier because I'm so important..

I can assure that's not what he implied, I asked a few other friends, and it basically means that the person thought that it was due time (past time, or a bit late) that they had begun to follow me.

He is a very friendly person. The word pal, believe it or not, was meant friendly as well.

Thanks for the input though

Well, out of context, it is a curt reply. If you have other information, then it just might be his personality.
