On Friday, 1 July 2012 at 3 pm, ....

Do I need an additional comma after '2012', or can I leave it punctuated as is?

We usually say 'July 1', not '1 July'.

I believe that some AmE style manuals say to do so (July 1, 2012, at 3 p.m.), but I can’t imagine why. I wouldn’t bother. (Not sure about BrE, though.)

In Canada, 'first of July' is commonly said,but (1st of July) is rarely written.

Ditto for the US. I just think it would have been safer to say We Canadians usually say 'July 1', not '1 July'.
