Do I capitalize director?

We have had requests by developers for base maps on significant projects that was forwarded to me by the director.

Is director capitalized here? Thanks!

There is some variation governing the use of capitalization when it comes to job titles. Personally, I would not capitalize it unless:
1. I am addressing the director. E.g. I am starting to write an e-mail: "Good morning, Director."
2. The title precedes the individual's name. E.g. "…forwarded to me by Director John Smith" (the definite article is omitted before the title in this case, as
