Do any adjective have a "ed" on it. Why?

Do adjective word have "ed" at the end? If they do can you please tell me why because I thought it only for the "verb word" in past tense only.

We could use "I take my place behind this desk and face this learned audience...." (pronounced lern-ed), not like the usual "learned" as in "He learned his times tables."

We do use the ed ending on verbs, however, even more often than with adjectives.
