The four uncountable nouns on the question table are 'understanding', 'assistance', 'help', and 'work'.
1. ... has produced who have a genuine understanding of the cultural heritage of Korean ethnic groups.
2. This step will likely require a special adult assistance from somebody you know.
3. This step will likely require a special help of a specific kind that tailors to this group of people.
4. Teaching pottery-making as a missionary work is what I am going to discuss with you today.
To me, No. 4 is a sentence that needs to have the article 'a' in front 'missionary work' because eventhough work is uncountable, the context is such that it is referring to a specific instance of work or a kind of work. To me, the following cases show the difference in the usage (they all seem to be alright with different twists) :
(Possibly right) Teaching pottery-making is a type of missionary work.
(Awakward but seems OK) Teaching pottery-making is missionary work.
(Right) Teaching pottery-making as a missionary work is what I am going to discuss with you today.
