Mister Micawber'Marked'?
Thank you for the reply.

My understanding is that You do it, i.e. a simple declarative (SVO) sentence, is an unmarked one whereas You don't do it and Do you do it? are marked for negation and interrogative respectively. So, I wonder whether the imperative Do it! is also marked for being imperatival.

The form for the imperative is the same as the base form, so it is not marked.

What I mean is the clause and, in my opinion, the base form of that clause, i.e. an unmarked one is You do it (SVO). And I think that Do it! is marked for imperativeness.

There is no marking as such in the imperative.

Indeed, it is unusual use the word 'marked' for the auxiliary verb used in the interrogative and negative forms.
