He got a divorce from Kate. This sounds OK. I would say the most popular way to say it is:

He divorced Kate. Or They got divorced.

For the second, I would say:

He has been divorced twice. Or He's had two divorces.

He divorced Kate. Or They got divorced.

Just a side note here: if you "divorce your wife" it sounds like you are the one pursuing the divorce. In the US, most states no longer require one person to be at fault (like infidelity), so you tend to say that "they got divorced." On the other hand, if he did find out that she was having an affair, he may have been the one seeking divorce and "he divorced her" would be correct.
