Divorce

He got a divorce from Kate.

Is the above sentence correct?

Can I say:

He got a divorce twice.

Should I say:

He got two divorces.

Is He got divorced from Kate the most popular way to say?

Just a side note here: if you "divorce your wife" it sounds like you are the one pursuing the divorce. In the US, most states no longer require one person to be at fault (like infidelity), so you tend to say that "they got divorced." On the other hand, if he did find out that she was having an affair, he may have been the one seeking divorce and "he divorced her" would be correct.

"Third time is the charm". It's good to know.

It should be "as the saying goes." It just means "There is a saying that says 'third time's the charm'."

Oops. I started to write "As they say" and changed my mind.

Thanks for clarifying it.
